Therapy Is Not A Dirty Word

Our Story

CEO, Esther Boykin and her colleague, friend, and co-collaborator Erica Turner of Rosewater Therapy.

Born as the brain child of Esther Boykin, LMFT and Erica Turner, LMFT, Therapy Is Not A Dirty Word began as a social media campaign designed to encourage open conversations about therapy and mental health.

The hashtag and accompanying posts got so much love that the campaign has grown into an entire division of Group Therapy Associates to offer events, a podcast, and some pretty cool swag.  Every podcast episode, happy hour, couples dinner, and getaway retreat is designed to give you a new way to get to know therapy and therapists outside the office.

So much of the stigma around mental health comes from one thing- unfamiliarity.

But therapy is NOT a dirty word nor a shameful secret. It’s an amazing experience and we believe that by bringing together therapists and the public at large we can create a new understanding and approach to mental health. We strive to create online and in-person spaces to bring together people who might feel excluded or marginalized by the usual systems, including mental health care, because

Therapy is for everyone.

Therapy Is Not A Dirty Word (and our parent company, Group Therapy Associates) is built on three core principles - knowing, feeling, and doing. The more we pursue knowledge while making space for emotional awareness we can make choices that empower and fulfill.

It is with this in mind that we curate our courses, events, products, and content. We invite you to learn, grow, and join in the conversation as we work to collaboratively create more culturally attuned, financially accessible, and meaningful approaches to mental health care.
