Taking the wisdom of therapy out of the office and into real life…
Therapy Is Not A Dirty Word began more than a decade ago with a simple but bold mission, to take therapy wisdom out of the office and into everyday life.
What started as a marketing campaign and community happy hours to bridge the gap between therapists and the public has evolved into a comprehensive educational hub.
Today we serve both individuals seeking growth and clinicians craving professional development that reflects their values.

Our Mission
We exist to make therapy wisdom accessible, practical, and culturally relevant. Whether you're someone curious about mental health tools or a clinician building a values-aligned practice, we believe therapy insights shouldn't be confined to the therapy room - they're for every part of life.
Our Approach
Educational, Accessible, Relatable.
We translate therapy wisdom without jargon, making complex concepts clear and actionable.
Warm but Direct
We offer clear guidance grounded in compassion, meeting you exactly where you are.
Advocacy-Oriented
We're bold about cultural context and unapologetically inclusive, centering voices and experiences that have historically been marginalized.
Practical + Actionable
Everything we create should feel useful right away, giving you tools you can implement immediately.
Our Legacy
Rooted in advocacy and community connection, Therapy Is Not A Dirty Word has grown from grassroots events into a trusted resource for thousands. Our foundation is rooted in the expertise and experience of our founder, Esther Boykin. Twenty-two years as a Marriage and Family Therapist and over 16 years as the founder and former CEO of Group Therapy Associates, means that at Therapy is Not a Dirty Word we understand both the clinical side of therapy and the real-world challenges people face just as much as the nuances and complexities of building a career in mental health. Today, we continue that mission through online courses for individuals, professional development for clinicians, and selective therapy services - all designed to make mental health wisdom a resource for everyone.
